Match Summary:-
Eastbourne Borough returned to Priory Lane for the first time in several weeks allowing Adam Wilde to make his home debut. Darren Baker returned unexpectedly early after a horrific eye injury.

The visitors were off the bus early and the lively Wesley Thomas had an opportunity in the 2nd minute but his shot was straight at Lee Hook who saved well. Scott Ramsay then had a chance to open the scoring from a Ben Austin free-kick but his header was wide. On 12 minutes The Sports were in front. Wilde played an excellent ball to Ramsay who broke into the visitors penalty area. He shaped to shoot and drew the keeper towards him but squared the ball at the last minute to Pat Harding who side footed home.

The goal ended Thurrocks dominance and it was now the home sides turn to get on top. Harding was having a great half and he turned his marker on 17 minutes but shot straight at the keeper. Neil Jenkins forced a finger-tip save at the far right-hand post as his deep cross threatened to drop into the net but Thurrock were the next team to score. A right-hand corner on 41 minutes was not cleared by the Boro defence and was headed home by Thomas.

The 2nd half was to see Harding complete his 1st hat-trick at this level and he had an early chance to score but his left foot effort was straight at Hussey. Jay Lovett forced his way into the box from a Ramsay flick but his shot was saved well. Thurrock also had chances. Thomas drew a save from Hook but Harding grabbed his 2nd after 66 minutes. Some neat passing found him in the 18yard box kept onside by a lack of concentration in The Fleet defence. He turned and fired past the keeper from 12 yards, 2-1. Wilde almost opened his account for the club on 68 minutes but the keeper gathered last gasp after a finger-tip interception from an Austin cross. The match then swung from end to end but on 83 minutes Ramsay slid the ball forward for Wilde to chase. He reached the ball on the bye line and his near post cross was met by Harding who forced the ball past Hussey for his 3rd.. Harding was substituted to a rousing ovation and there was just time for replacement Allan Tait to have a far post header saved. The final score remained 3-1.
