Match Summary:-
The Sports made the long journey to Gwent hoping to recover from the away defeat at Sutton on the previous Saturday.

Boro had to contend with a large and vociferous Spytty Park crowd, and the task was made even harder as Neil Jenkins was forced off injured, to be replaced by Scott Ramsay, after only 5 minutes. Jay Lovett moved into the left-back spot but 'The Exiles' opened the scoring on 20 minutes when Craig Hughes turned and shot past Lee Hook from the edge of the box.

Boro fought back into the match and on 37 minutes Allan Tait headed wide and moments later the No 10. set Ramsay away by the substitute shot wide. Boro were pressing for an equaliser without really testing the home keeper and fell further behind as Hughes grabbed his 2nd of the night, lifting the ball over Hook from 18 yards. 2-0 the half-time score.

The 2nd half started with chasing a foothold in the match. Ramsay forced a save on 57 minutes after a strong run from Ben Austin before Hughes again ran at the Boro defence but shot narrowly wide. Giles was forced saved again from Ramsay on 67 minutes but on 69 minutes Sam O'Sullivan grabbed his sides 3rd of the night finishing a right hand cross.

Paul Armstrong went close but with a 3 goal advantage and the crowd in full voice Lee Hook was forced to bring a man down in the 18 yard box and Jason Bowen made it 4 on the night from the spot past substitute keeper Dean Lightwood.

Dean kept a clean sheet for the remainder of the match as Boro played out with 10 men. 4-0 the final score.
