Match Summary:-
The Sports traveled to near neighbours Hastings United looking to get back to winning ways in their pre-season campaign. This intent was evident as 2 early chances for Matt Crabb and Lee Newman required saves from the home keeper Mark Oldroyd. Scott R 2 v Hastings crop 1Boro did not have it all their own way however as Hastings, playing their first pre-season match, attempted to impose themselves on the visitors. Boro took the lead in the 20th minute as Lee Newman latched onto an excellent Crabb through ball and slotted past the keeper to take the lead. The advantage did not last long as a poor clearance from Lee Worgan was returned to the far post by John Bradley for Sam Adams to tap home for Hastings. Boro played some attractive passing football but could not regain the lead until a moment of skill from Lee Newman. He received the ball on the edge of the 18 yard box and turned to rifle a shot past the outstretched keeper.

Visiting supporters would have hoped that Boro would have built on the lead in the 2nd half but within a couple of minutes of the restart Hastings were level. Andy A v Hastings crop 1A defensive mix up allowed Bernard Asante to beat Lee Worgan to the ball and poke the ball home. Both sides had opportunities to take the lead and the customary multiple substitutions broke the game up but The Sports claimed the win on 78 minutes when Allan Tait scored his 1st goal for the club from 6 yards after a corner was not cleared by the Hastings defence.
