Match Summary:-
Eastbourne Borough welcomed Hassocks to Priory Lane with the club and players hoping to step up performances ahead of the August 12th Nationwide South kick off. The club also welcomed
Duncan McArthur to Priory Lane having joined the club from neighbours Hastings United.

The home side started brightly with three opportunities in the opening 20 minutes. Allan Tait fired just wide, triallist Dominic Douglas had a header tipped over the bar, and Allan Tait again came close with an excellent strike from inside the box that was saved well by Pat Hardings brother Joel in the Hassocks goal. Boro dominated the first half but Hassocks made the home side fight for every opening and restricted further first half opportunities to a Lee Newman effort on 34 minutes and a long range Tait shot after 39.

No substitutions were made at half time and The Sports came out for the second half determined to dominate the game. The first real opportunity in the half fell to Hassocks however. A corner was swung to the far post and as Boro failed to clear the ball fell to a Hassocks defender but he only managed to shoot wide in the congested area. The pattern of the match then settled into Eastbourne Borough domination of possession but failure to convert chances. Efforts from Paul Armstrong and Scott Ramsay, a Matt Crabb freekick, and Joe Keehan and Pat Harding long range efforts all failed to find the net. As the match reached the final 5 minutes it appeared that the excellent Hassocks effort would produce a fine draw. A Pat Harding goal bound effort was deflected for a corner by a last ditch block in the 6 yard box. The resulting corner was delivered into the area and headed home by triallist Victor Dolista. Boro then managed to push home the advantage as Dolista was adjudged to have been tripped as he turned on the edge of the 18 yard box and Scott Ramsay fired the resulting penalty into the roof of the net.
