Match Summary:- Dorchester Town found themselves a goal down in the 1st minute at a stormy Priory Lane and despite the home side playing the final 23 minutes with 10 men the Magpies were lucky to leave with a share of the spoils in a hard fought 1-1 draw littered with cards of all colours.
Boro took the lead when Duncan McArthur was fouled on the edge of the 18 yard box. Paul Armstrong took the free kick as Dorchester prepared their wall but Richard Martin could not react quick enough and his first task was to pick the ball out of his net. The away side, facing the wind in the 1st half, thought they had equalised on 13 minutes but the effort was ruled out for offside. Boro made use of the conditions and created several chances but shots were off target or defended well. As the half drew to a close Scott Ramsay had an excellent chance to score with only the keeper to beat 6 yards out. A Dorchester defender jumped for the header from behind and appeared to catch Scott who also had his eyes on the ball. The referee refused the penalty and The Magpies took full advantage. Only a minute later Matt Groves found himself 7 yards out with the ball at his feet and he made no mistake, 1-1 the half time score.
Dorchester, now with the wind at on backs nearly took the lead on 56 minutes with a long range effort from Guy Lopez that needed a full stretch save by Lee Hook. The game sprang to life in the 67th minute as Duncan McArthur was sent off for a 2nd book-able offence just as he was about to be replaced. This appeared to spur the home side on and despite some opportunities for Dorchester, The Sports finished the half strongly. Neil Jenkins made the most of the space on the left and provided some excellent moments for Boro as did the tireless Scott Ramsay but substitute Allan Tait had the opportunity to claim all 3 points for the home side at the death but from the same position as Matt Groves in the 1st half snatched his shot past the right hand post.
