That rarity of a one club player, Darren has been a regular in the side since making his first team debut in 1992. 'Bakes' began his career with Brighton and Hove Albion, and Littlehampton Town Youth; and was a member of the Sussex Representative side that won the SW Counties championship in 1999/00.
Holds the club record for the number of senior appearances, and extended this to 643 by the end of the 2005/06 season. Plays in central defence these days and hasn't scored for a quite few seasons, but long-standing Sports' fans have fond memories of devastating runs out of defence in a wing-back role, resulting in 21 goals.
Rarely has a disappointing game and is very dependable. Missed the back end of 2004/05 after fracturing his arm but has made a full recovery.
