Match Report:
|
|
Having met only 10 days previously Boro were eager to put behind them the traumatic experience of the 2-2 draw at Priory lane in which the score line proved insignificant in comparison to the ever increasing suspension and injury list.
‘The Sports’ started tentatively and were very much on the back-foot when Weston opened the scoring in the 9th minute. A left wing corner was headed home by Marc McGregor, Lee Hook unlucky not to tip the effort onto or over the bar.
Boro gradually worked their way back into the game and although claiming a high percentage of possession were unable to thereaten the home goal. In comparison Wilfred Domoraud was a constant threat to the visiting back-four.
The 2nd half began with Boro showing more adventure and the introduction of Evan Archibald and Sam Crabb changed the course of events. Within 5 minutes of his introduction Crabb saw an effort rebound of the post and a Weston player for an own goal equaliser. Boro’s spirits were now upbeat and Archibald fired 2 excellent efforts at Northmore before Andy Atkin caused celebration amongst the travelling support as he finished for 2-1.
In the closing minutes a stubborn defence held tight although fortune intervened as a Weston effort rebounded off the post and penalty appeals were denied. Moments later the ref blew to signal 3 valuable points claimed and a play-off place sealed.
