Match Report:

Ringmer visited Priory Lane to play the home side for the 1st time since season 2000/2001, the fixture then ending in a thrilling 5-4 victory for The Sports. Garry ‘n’ Nick took the opportunity to play players who have been sidelined for various reasons, Andy Ballard starting after a period on the bench, Allan Tait & Ben Austin returning from injury, and Darren Budd starting a game after recently joining from Bognor Regis Town. Ex Sports Marc Whiteman and Nick Barden lined up for Ringmer.

Boro started brightly with a trademark Austin charge down the right flank, Taits goal bound effort blocked, and on 8 minutes Ringmer failed to get distance on a clearance following a long right sided throw-in, Darren Budd smashed the ball home low from 25 yards to open his account for the club. Joe Dryer did his best all match to upset the Boro rhythm and his strong runs in the opening 20 minutes troubled the Boro back-four. However Boro extended their lead on 29 minutes when an excellent delivery from the left boot of Pat Harding found Tait 8 yards out; his header dropping into the bottom right-hand corner for the sides 2nd of the evening. Andy Atkin and Neil Jenkins had further chances to further extend the lead but the half-time whistle blew at 2-0.

Budd was proving to be influential and his excellent ball over the defence allowed Nathan Crabb to draw a fine save from Joe Adams and on 64 minutes the No 1 made a brave save at home feet during a goal-mouth scramble. On 68 minutes Budd smashed another fine strike against the Ringmer bar and the referee must have been the only person in Priory Lane who did not see Budd brought down by the keeper on 76 minutes, no penalty awarded. Boro continued to dominate and Paul Armstrong, Scott Ramsay and Austin all went close before in injury time a Matt Crabb cross fond Matt Smart who swept the ball home with the last kick of the game.
