The Reserves won the Reserve Section Challenge Cup Final 5-2 at Ringmer in a fine match .v. Worthing FC, 19/03/08. Worthing pegged Boro back twice as Evan Archibald gave ‘The Sports’ the lead 1st with a fabulous volley on 27 minutes from a Ben Austin cross and then with a low drive from a long clearance. Archibald then had the chance to complete his hat-trick from the penalty spot as Austin was upended following a trade-mark surge into the box but the young strikers spot kick was wide on 64 minutes. After 72 minutes Adam Wilde gave Boro the decisive lead with a fierce low drive that took everyone, including the Worthing keeper, by surprise, before Archibald finally grabbed his 3rd with 4 minutes to go when he chipped the ball over the last man and again volleyed low into the corner. Substitute Kevin Barden scored with his 1st touch in the 89th minute to complete the scoring and allow the side to collect the 1st piece of a potential league and cup double. Credit must be given to Worthing who never let Boro settle and twice canceled out ‘The Sports’ lead.
