Long serving defender Darren Baker was sent off as Eastbourne Borough crashed 5-0 at Wrexham this afternoon. It was Borough's heaviest defeat of a rollercoaster season, but the final result was not a true reflection of the game.

Garry Wilson's men fought bravely in the first half and did not concede a goal until the stroke of half-time when Marc Williams finally broke the deadlock.

But the second half was a catalogue of disasters for the visitors. With Wrexham looking true play-off candidates, top scorer Jefferson Louis hit a screamer from 30 yards into the top corner of the net. Matt Smart, who had replaced Simon Wormull after 20 minutes, committed the miss of the season when he hit the post with an empty net at his mercy. Instead of 2-1, it was all over bar the shouting when Williams made it 3-0 with a goal that looked blatantly offside.

Baker was given his marching orders for an off-the-ball incident that was unseen by many of the 3,475 crowd as Borough's fortunes went from bad to worse. With Marc Pullan limping, Neil Taylor made it 4-0 before Williams completed his hat-trick.

Bournemouth loanee Jeff Goulding started his first game in Eastbourne colours but was replaced at half-time by Mo Harkin. Andy Atkin was introduced in the 72nd minute in place of Plymouth loanee Ashley Barnes who received his fourth booking in his four games with Borough.
