Eastbourne Borough failed
to stage an amazing comeback for the second week in a
row as they went down 2-0 at ten-man Kidderminster. Harriers
lost Craig Armstrong in only the 15th minute for a challenge
on Dan Smith but it seemed to galvanise the home side.
They took the lead six minutes later through Matthew Barnes-Homer
after Smith had given the ball away on the edge of the
area and were 2-0 up in the 25th minute when Barnes-Homer
cut through the home defence again to finish clinically.
Despite being a man down Harriers dominated possession
and came close to extending their lead when Martin Brittain
hit the bar from a free kick and David McDermott had an
effort cleared off the line by Marc Pullan. Andy Atkin
wasted Borough's best chance of getting back into the
game when he shot wide with just the keeper to beat while
Smith also passed up a decent opportunity.
Borough needed an early goal in the second half to give
themselves hope but they were unable to create any openings.
Their first effort on target didn't come until the 73rd
minute when Paul Armstrong shot straight at keeper Adam
Bartlett from the edge of the area. Garry Wilson threw
on Nathan Crabb, Jay Lovett and Simon Wormull in an attempt
to change the course of the game but Borough were unable
to find any joy against an organised Kidderminster side.
