The Sports fielded the same side that
faced Tamworth the previous Saturday at Priory Lane, the
hosts looking to bounce back from a defeat on the same
day. The response from The Stutes for their manager was
immediate as they dominated the 1st 45 minutes, Michael
Jordan keeping his side in the hunt with several outstanding
saves. A straight red card for Adam Tann just minutes
before the break gave Boro a lifeline - sadly for the
band of traveling fans the side could not take it.
Boro had an early penalty appeal turned
down - again - with Nathan Crabb tripped in the box after
chipping the last man but Histon had the best of the early
chances with Nathaniel Knight-Percival and Danny Wright
drawing saves from Jordan. On 27 minutes Histon opened
the scoring with Knight-Percival nodding home a right-wing
corner with Jordan appearing to have been bundled to the
ground. Histon continued to dominate until Tann hauled
Liam Enver-Marum to the ground as the Boro No. 10 went
to sprint goal wards.
As the 2nd 45 started the hosts strengthened
the back 4 with Adam Bygrave joining the fray and Jordan
was again called into early action with a low point blank
save. Histon continued to dominate the chances - Jordan
by far the busier keeper - before Wright crossed from
the bye line for Knight-Percival to grab his 2nd of the
game on 72 minutes. Boro finally began to stretch the
hosts but an un met cross by Jamie Taylor and a low shot
across the goal from Enver-Marum was all Boro could muster
- the hosts claiming all 3 points after a disappointing
night for Boro.
