'Sports' Visit 'The
Dons' This Saturday

Eastbourne
Borough make the 70 mile trip to
AFC Wimbledon
and the Kingsmeadow Stadium in Kingston upon Thames
on Saturday (March 13) kick off 15.00.
The Dons striving to emulate the "old"
Wimbledon and reach the Football League are currently
seventh in the Blue Square Premier League and based
on a table with Chester City results expunged have
54 points from 32 played and are just four points
adrift of the play-off places.
At home they have picked up 25 points with seven
wins, four draws and four defeats.
Back in August Borough beat the Dons 1-0 at Priory
Lane thanks a 25 yard top corner screamer from ex
Wimbledon defender Neil Jenkins watched by 3,108
- the Sports biggest home gate so far this season.
Striker pair Danny Kedwell and Jon Main have netted
34 goals between them, with 20 and 14 respectively.
AFC Wimbledon was born in 2002 after the original
Dons upped and left London to become MKDons based
in Milton Keynes. They started life in the Combined
Counties League which they won in 2004. In 2008
they climbed out of the Ryman Premier and twelve
months later they were Blue Square South champions.
At Kingsmeadow they are averaging 3,648 this season,
but suffered a reverse in their play-off chase this
week with a 2-1 away defeat at Sussex rivals Crawley
Town.
Crucial Games As Boro Bid For BSP Survival

'Jenko' .v. AFC Wimbledon
Earlier This Season
AFC Wimbledon mark Borough"s ninth consecutive
BSP fixture against clubs in the top half of the
BSP table: a sequence taking in Wrexham, Rushden
and Diamonds, Luton Town, Altrincham (twice), York
City, Stevenage and Kidderminster Harriers.
After the Dons date Garry Wilson"s side face
five games in a row against clubs also caught up
in the scrap to avoid the remaining three relegation
places following the Chester expulsion:
Saturday March 20 Grays Athletic Home
Saturday March 27 Barrow Away
Tuesday March 30 Gateshead Home
Saturday April 3 Forest Green Rovers Home
Monday April 5 Ebbsfleet United Away
It is hoped that
the Eastbourne public and Priory Lane 'faithful'
will travel to support the club away from home but
crucially provide large and vocal backing for 'The
Sports' at Priory Lane in the coming weeks.

Sussex Senior Cup
Monday Next

Eastbourne
Borough look to continue their defence
of the Sussex Senior Cup this Monday evening (kick-off
7.45) at Whitehawk.
The hosts are having a fine season,
comepting in the FA Vase, the Senior Cup, and challenging
for the Sussex County League title. They are managed
by George Parris, ex West Ham United, and longer
term followers of 'The Sports' may remember facing
George at Priory Lane when he played for Shoreham.
The club also have several ex Boro players in their
squad - Jay Lovett and Darren Budd to name just
two.
Eastbourne Borough travel to East Brighton Park
just 48 hours after a trip to South London to face
AFC Wimbledon and have a key game at Priory Lane
.v. Grays Athletic the following Saturday. As such
the club aim to fully utilise the depth and breadth
of the squad available for the cup tie in order

Boro Deny F.A. Charge

Eastbourne
Borough Football Club denied a Football
Association charge of failing to control their players
in the Blue Square Premier League fixture at Tamworth
on January 23 2010 and requested a personal hearing
which took place today (10.03.10) at Wembley Stadium.
Representing the club were Adrian
Turner QC, chairman Len Smith and vice chairman
Mick Grimer.
The charge related to an incident
in the third minute of stoppage time. The Regulatory
Commission hearing the case fined Eastbourne Borough
£200. and ruled that the club should meet
£100 costs.
Tamworth F.C. faced a similar charge
but the outcome of their case is not known by Eastbourne
Borough.

The Town Red

Eastbourne
Borough F.C. are very much a club
at the heart of the community and today they made
a big impact in Eastbourne town centre with the
unveiling of a 6 metres x 3 metres advertising site
promoting the Blue Square Premier League club.
The site, in a prime location, on the corner of
Ashford Road and Cavendish Place was donated by
insurance brokers John
F. Whippy and Co who have foregone
the £2,000 annual rental for the space to
help promote Borough.
Vinyl Designs
produced and erected the high quality board free
of charge by working on it in their own time at
weekends and in the evening. They will also be updating
the fixtures panel which at the moment is advertising
the next home BSP game at Priory Lane against Grays
Athletic on Saturday March 20. kick
off 15.00.
Said EBFC commercial manager Lorna Gosling: "We
are delighted to have acquired such a prominent
town centre presence and this was only possible
thanks to the generosity and enthusiasm for Borough
of John F. Whippy and Co. and Vinyl Designs."

Conference Press
Statement : Chester City (2004) FC

"The Football Conference
announce Chester City (2004) FC having not lodged
any appeal in respect of their removal from the
competition, their playing record has been expunged
with immediate effect. (Monday 8th Match 2010)
A new calculated table
is being circulated via the Press Association this
afternoon as the official record to be used by all
the media and member clubs from this date.
Due to the fact that
ALL goals involved in those matches played to date
are also expunged, it means that those players having
scored goals in matches against Chester City in
the Blue Square Premier also see them expunged from
the record books. This is to maintain fairness and
consistency in relation to the player winning the
"Golden Boot" award at the end of the
season in the Blue Square Premier. Goals scored
in FA Cup or FA Trophy ties are not so affected
and will remain in those competitions."
Eastbourne Borough FC are maintaining
the 1-1 home draw, 12/09/09, in which Andy Atkin
scored The Sports goal, in the players statistical
histories for appearances and goalscoring.

Whilst the 1st XI were doing the club pround many
miles to the north the EBFC
'A' side entertained a County Division
3 team, Ifield Edwards,
in the Senior Charity Cup. 'The Sports' took an
early lead in the opening minute through Michael
Lloyd but the visitors' physical presence prevented
the hosts from pushing home this advantage and Boro
were reduced to 10 men mid-way through the opening
45. Ifield Edwards drew level against the run of
play and with extra time beckoniong the excellent
Richard Piper smashed home from inside the 18 yard

'Boro' Next For
Boro

All Borough"s three away wins

Charlie Griffin - 12 apiece - as Stevenage strive
to reach the Football League for the first time.
Chester City &
The League Table

The current League table, which still
includes Chester City
who have until Friday to appeal expulsion, sees
Borough two points and two places above the drop
zone. However the expunging of the Chester results
would put Borough three places and three points
ahead of the remaining three relegation spots in
18th. and only a point behind 15th. Salisbury City.
When the table is officially revised Borough will
lose one point, while Barrow and Gateshead totals
wont change; Cambridge United will suffer suffer
a six point loss and drop into the relegation frame.
Forest Green Rovers and Ebbsfleet will both have
three points "disappear"; Salisbury four
and Tamworth six.

Last season York, despite getting to the F.A. Trophy
Final at Wembley - they lost to Stevenage - were
a disappointing 17th. in the BSP and actually finished
four places and eight points behind Eastbourne Borough.
City were relegated from the Football League at
the end of season 2003/04. In 1955 the Minstermen
got the F.A. Cup semi-final and became the first
Third Division club to force a replay in the semis

The visitors fought
doggedly all evening and restricted Boro's efforts

Glorious Sunshine For Last Seasons Visit
Of Altrincham - Allan Tait, Jean-Michel Sigere &

Borough will meet Altrincham
but this time it is the Cheshire club who face the
530 mile round-trip for the Blue Square Premier
League encounter at Priory Lane on Saturday (February
20) kick off 15.00.
And Altrincham part two is an early chance for Borough
to avenge a 3-0 defeat at Moss Lane on Tuesday evening.
It was a night to forget for The Sports. Danny Knowles,
struck down by a virus was not fit enough to travel
to the North West and was replaced by Brighton and
Hove Albion teenage "keeper Mitchell Walker
who was signed on emergency loan hours before kick
off.
In a match that saw both sides reduced to 10 men,
Borough defender Sacha Opinel, on loan from Farnborough
Town, was red carded just before half-time.
Saturday is Alty"s second visit to Sussex in
a week having made the 450 mile two way journey
to Crawley Town where they suffered a 1-0 loss.
Altrincham are currently 11th. in the Blue Square
Premier League with 44 points from 29 matches. On
the road they have won seven, drawn three and lost
four, picking up 24 points. In fact their away form
is better than at Moss Lane where they have won
five, drawn five and lost five and collected 20
points.
Despite three successive defeats in a week - Rushden
and Diamonds, Luton Town and Altrincham - Borough
are still 19th. in the League with 29 points from
32 games and a goal difference of minus 22. Barrow
are 21st with 28 points, gd minus 16, but have four
games in hand on Borough; 20th. position Gateshead
have 28 points from 31 played and a goal difference
of minus 14.

become one of the big events in the Eastbourne sporting
calendar and over 1,000 runners are expected to
set out from Princes Park on the 13.5 mile course.
With the 2.018 attendance for Luton
Town on Saturday the Eastbourne Borough BSP average
this season climbed to 1,233 and 13th. position
in the gates chart. This makes Borough
the second best attended club in Sussex
- Football League Div 1 Brighton and Hove Albion
lead the way with an average of 6,227. Crawley Town
are currently 21st in the BSP attendance table with
an average of 916. Last season Borough averaged
1.344.
35 year-old defender Darren
Baker, who made his Borough debut
in 1992, chalked up his 850th. appearance for the
club in the Blue Square Premier League game against
Luton Town on Saturday. This remarkable record by
one club man Baker is unlikely ever to be equalled
at Priory Lane.

Darren Baker After Play-Off Victory
It is possible another landmark
will be reached this Saturday with the visit of
'The Robins'. Marc
Pullan, who joined Borough from
coastal neighbours Worthing in January 2006, will
make his 200th appearance for The Sports should
he take to the field. There can be few who would
argue with the word 'outstanding' when used to describe
Marc's contribution to the clubs cause over recent
years; his time marked with Player Of Year and Man
Of the Match awards aplenty.

would like to help prepare for tomorrows game would
they please turn up at Priory
Lane tomorrow morning at 8.30 to 9 AM
- with shovels and spades !
Many thanks
